Happy Farmer Climate Story Week! Since we haven’t been growing for our CSA this year, our primary focus has been on making @herewearefarm more climate-friendly and resilient. After losing so many crops to flooding last year, we dug a series of swales and berms to help manage water in the field. On the berms, we planted over 200 trees to sequester carbon, provide shade and forage for sheep 🌳🐑 (#silvopasture!), and produce fruit and nuts someday for our community. Planting trees in a drought has been a little rocky, but most of them are surviving in their tree tubes. Happy fall Friday from some sheep eating some flowers! 🌼🐑🐑 A hay ride for Lefty cat 🚜🌾🐈‍⬛ First greenhouse toad of Spring! Just look at that cute face 🐸 It begins! First CSA harvest is out the door! Do you need spinach the size of a human torso? We still have room in the CSA - link in bio! 🌱🌱 Welcome to the world little garlic. Can’t wait to eat you and your curly lil scapes! 🌞 So far my favorite thing the babies do is “eat hay like mama” - imitating the ewes and pretending to eat hay with them even though they don’t have the equipment yet and only drink milk 🥺 Happy birthday, spring lambs! 😍😍😍 Shana Tova! Taking some for reflection this Yom Kippur. This has been an overwhelming season in so many ways, and we’ve been quiet on social media for a bit. We’ve got a whole summer’s backlog of veggies, cats, badass lady/non-binary farmers, and sheep to show you, but first… some acknowledgements and resolutions.
